My name is Flor Castillo and I am from Honduras a small Central American country in the Caribbean. I have been an educator for 20+ years with experience in grades K-12. I achieved my BA in ESL and Minor in Early Education from Universidad Pedagogica Nacional "Francisco Morazan" and a MA TESOL from Greensboro College.  I also had the pleasure of founding the Spanish Immersion Program here at Pickett Elementary in 2019 with Kindergarten. This year, the program is opening 4th grade and I will be teaching the 3rd and 4th Grade  Dual Language Spanish Immersion class and serving as the team leader of the Spanish Immersion Team. I love reading and also traveling to new places. My 21-year-old son is a college sophomore at UNC Charlotte, and part of the soccer team! Go Niners! I am very proud of all his achievements. As a lifelong educator, I always advocate for my students and believe in what they can achieve as they navigate the road to becoming conscious global citizens.
